PASTORAL MENTOR

Fixed Term Contract part time (32.5 hours per week) Monday to Friday until 17th July 2020. Term time only including inset days.

Venturers Trust is a new Multi Academy Trust based in Bristol formed through the merger of CGS Trust and Merchants’ Academy Trust in September 2017. Comprising Primary, Secondary, all-age schools and a Special school the Trust has 3,200 pupils and 700 staff.

A unique and exciting role has come up at the Fairlawn School. We are looking for an energetic and dynamic practitioner who has a passion for working with school-aged children. The role include the following: 

 

• Intervention to promote the process of individual children in attaining defined goals

• Promoting effective pastoral care for individual children, liaising with colleagues to provide accurate records providing home/school liaison and contacts with other agencies

• Reporting concerns about progress and identifying solutions, to the teacher

• Delivering educational and therapeutic specialist support programmes i.e., sand tray therapy and play therapy, Thrive

• Carrying out specified medical care procedures following direct specific training by a qualified practitioner

• Create Thrive assessments of individual children’s development through observation, creation and retrieval of records, discussion with colleagues and teachers to promote the social, emotional and behavioural standards defined by Fairlawn and measure impact

• To promote the social, emotional and behavioural standards defined by Fairlawn.

We are looking for someone who can develop excellent relationships with children, particularly those who need additional support. The successful candidate will need good knowledge of Word and Excel and be organised.

The successful candidate will have:

 

• A GCSE grade of C or higher in English and Mathematics (or equivalent qualification).

• NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants

• A proficiency in improving basic numeracy and literacy with specialist skills in literacy that will enable you to work with targeted individuals.

• Experience of working effectively supporting children in a learning environment.

• Experience of working with pupils with difficulties in learning or social and emotional behaviours.
